Softball Game Preview: Loudonville Redbirds vs. Danville Blue Devils

Loudonville hasn't had much luck against Danville recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Redbirds will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. Loudonville has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Loudonville is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Centerburg, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Redbirds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Loudonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Kegley, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Danville strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mt. Gilead a 22-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Danville's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Loudonville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Loudonville was able to grind out a solid win over Danville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Redbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
