Softball Game Preview: Liberty Redhawks vs. Heritage Coyotes

The Liberty Redhawks will venture away from home to square off against the Heritage Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Heritage will be coming in after a loss.

Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over Centennial. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Redhawks yet this season.

Ainslee Palmer and Madison Terry did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Terry got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That home run was Palmer's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adeline Glatch, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-1 to Memorial. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Liberty now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Liberty beat Heritage 13-10 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
