Breese Central and Freeburg are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars will host the Midgets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Breese Central has six straight wins, Freeburg has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Saturday, Breese Central got the win against Casey-Westfield by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Freeburg lost a heartbreaker to Belleville East when they met back in April of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The Midgets came up short against the Lancers, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Midgets have suffered since March 27, 2024.

Freeburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Rapp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Cameron Harms also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Breese Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Freeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Breese Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Freeburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Midgets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
