Zionsville faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Flashes 9-1. Considering the Eagles have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Leah Helton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tess Bradford was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvia Mudis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Coming up, Zionsville will challenge Cathedral at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 23rd straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Franklin Central, they will face off against Brownsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Flashes have won five straight at home, while the Bulldogs won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
