Recap: Proviso West Panthers vs. Orangeville Broncos
The Proviso West Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Orangeville 67-39. While losing is never fun, Proviso West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Orangeville is ranked 47th).
Whitney Sullivan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds for Orangeville. The game was Sullivan's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Cahoon, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Proviso West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Orangeville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Proviso West will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Harlem at 2:30 p.m. on December 27, 2023. Harlem is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Orangeville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Boylan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Boylan Catholic is on a three-game streak of home wins, Orangeville a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
