Softball Recap: Richton Rebels vs. Hattiesburg Tigers        
        
		
            
 If Richton was feeling good  off their  15-0 takedown of Collins last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richton Rebels fell victim to a  rough 15-5 defeat at the hands of the Hattiesburg Tigers  on Friday. Richton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hattiesburg apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in March of 2016.
 For Hattiesburg's part,  Chloee Parhm made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 12 batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   five  hits. Parhm has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Parhm was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Cornique Mark, who  went 1-for-5 with a  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Lyric Walker, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Richton has  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record  this season. As for Hattiesburg, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-7.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richton will take on Heidelberg at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Hattiesburg, they will play host again  on Monday to welcome Laurel, where first pitch is scheduled  at 5:00  p.m.
