Basketball Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish vs. Piedmont Wildcats

The Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish will challenge the Piedmont Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop McGuinness is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Ada: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bishop McGuinness blew Ada out of the water with a 71-27 final score. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Piedmont entered their tilt with Putnam City North on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over the Panthers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Panthers are ranked 21st).

Piedmont has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Bishop McGuinness, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Bishop McGuinness was able to grind out a solid win over Piedmont when the teams last played back in January of 2022, winning 72-62. Will Bishop McGuinness repeat their success, or does Piedmont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
