Volleyball Recap: Hicksville Takes a Loss

Hicksville lost against Fairview back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Aces came up short against the Apaches, falling 3-0. The Aces have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Hicksville was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Fairview's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-15, 25-16.

Jocelyn Baldwin paced Hicksville's offense, picking up six kills. Baldwin got some help from McKenna Baird and her 13 assists. Baird also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Paige Ayers, each putting up two.

Fairview can attribute much of their success to Liberty Vogelsong, who had ten digs and three assists. Vogelsong is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 13 games she's played.

Hicksville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Fairview, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Hicksville and Liberty Center will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairview, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Eastwood on the 11th.
