Baseball Recap: Seeger Victorious

Seeger had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 8-8 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Covington Trojans 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on Monday.

Xavier Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Grimmett, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

As for Covington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2023, but that streak is no more.

On Covington's side, they got a good showing from Carson Schaeffer, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, Schaeffer didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

At the plate, Davyn Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Covington is 4-1 when Green posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
