Baseball Game Preview: Valley Center Jaguars vs. Westview Wolverines

For the second straight game, Valley Center will face off against Westview. The Jaguars will host the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Valley Center has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Westview will arrive with four straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Valley Center's offense. They came up short against Westview on Monday, falling 18-0.

For Westview's part, Jacob Kuy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Kuy has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Westview got a massive performance out of Eli Irvine, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Irvine a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Arango-Manley, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley Center's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
