Basketball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. St. Raphael Academy Saints

The Classical Purple and the St. Raphael Academy Saints will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Classical's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Classical is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Cumberland: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Classical blew Cumberland out of the water with an 84-41 final score. The Purple have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abdul Evans, who posted 19 points. With that strong performance, Evans is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliezer Delbrey, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, St. Raphael Academy ended up a good deal behind Pilgrim on Monday and lost 70-52. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Classical is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. As for St. Raphael Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Classical took their win against St. Raphael Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 69-43. Does Classical have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Raphael Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
