Basketball Recap: Eastern Alamance Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cedar Ridge last Tuesday, Eastern Alamance came back down to earth. The Eastern Alamance Eagles fell 77-68 to the Person Rockets on Friday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 74-71.

When it comes to explaining why Eastern Alamance lost, don't look at Ja'Vier Tinnin. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 10 to rack up 25 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Tinnin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last five games he's played. Mason Murphy was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Eastern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Person, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Eastern Alamance and Person should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Eastern Alamance (ranked 182nd) will meet Southern Alamance (ranked 511th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Alamance is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Person will face off against Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 162 places (70 vs. 232). Eastern Alamance will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
