Softball Recap: Franklin Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Franklin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Valley View Spartans by a score of 6-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Meredith Zehering, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Mikesell, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in three consecutive matchups.

Franklin pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Valley View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7-1.

Franklin and Valley View could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 135th) will meet Western Brown (ranked 24th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Valley View will square off against Bellbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (547 vs. 241).
