Baseball Recap: Macon Takes a Loss

Macon extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-17. They lost 8-2 to the Fulton Hornets. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Fulton, they pushed their record up to 11-19 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Fulton's part, Braden Hughes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Hughes posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three games. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fulton let Luke Holland and Gage Tiffany run wild. Holland got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Tiffany got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Fulton is 6-1 when Holland posts two or more runs, but 5-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Blake Kennon, who earned two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Macon will face off against Clark County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Fulton, they will challenge Wright City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Hornets their first taste of in-conference action this season.
