Basketball Recap: Mclean Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hedley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McLean). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Hedley Owls 95-21. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

McLean's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Slayde Stalls, who went 8 for 12 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. What's more, Stalls also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayvon Salazar, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Stalls wasn't the only one working in the assists department: McLean was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hedley's loss came despite strong showings from Kyler Booth and Payton Inman. Booth posted six points, while Inman put up seven points.

McLean has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.1 points. As for Hedley, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Coincidentally, McLean and Hedley will both be playing White Deer the next time they take the court. McLean will host White Deer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Hedley will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
