Soccer Game Preview: Shawnee vs. Oakwood

The Shawnee Braves will face off against the Oakwood Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shawnee is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Shawnee came up short against Stebbins on Saturday, falling 5-2. That's two games in a row now that Shawnee have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Oakwood made sure to put some goals up on the board against Eaton on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Eagles. Oakwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by three goals or more this season.

Oakwood is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine matchups. As for Shawnee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14-1.

Shawnee suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Oakwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2018. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
