Basketball Recap: Clarion Area's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clarion Area had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Falcons with a sharp 55-34 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Falcons are ranked 684th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clarion Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Burford, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nathan Frederick, who posted 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Clarion Area's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Allegheny-Clarion Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarion Area will head out to face off against Karns City at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Allegheny-Clarion Valley, they will venture away from home to take on North Clarion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
