Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks
The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They breezed by Cheyenne Mountain at home to the tune of 59-22. The win was nothing new for Fountain-Fort Carson as they're now sitting on five straight.
Fountain-Fort Carson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dessirae Ulmer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Ulmer hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne Mountain still got an impressive performance from Ainsley Norton, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Norton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cheyenne Mountain struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fountain-Fort Carson racked up 13 assists.
Fountain-Fort Carson pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain-Fort Carson will take on Vista Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will be playing at home against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lewis-Palmer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
