Softball Game Preview: Au Gres-Sims Wolverines vs. Alcona Tigers

The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Alcona Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Au Gres-Sims is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Monday. They lost 17-6 to Mio-Au Sable.

Kayden Skacal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Rogers City hit Alcona with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Hurons, falling 10-2. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Hurons: they've now lost six in a row.

Jordyn Somers was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Somers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Somers wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adriana Grimshaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Alcona's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Au Gres-Sims, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
