Softball Recap: Granite Bay Grizzlies vs. Whitney Wildcats

Granite Bay had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-15 to make it nine. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whitney Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in March.

As for Whitney, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Whitney's part, Taylor Cordell got the start for Whitney and what a start it was: she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Bri Seffens was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Rau, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Granite Bay wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-1 loss against Del Oro on the 6th. As for Whitney, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-0 win against Rocklin on the 6th.
