Baseball Recap: Piute Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Piute, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Bryce Valley Mustangs on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Thunderbirds: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Wednesday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Blake Dalton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Piute's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Pendleton Bowler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Piute's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.5 runs this season. As for Bryce Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coincidentally, Piute and Bryce Valley will both be playing Altamont the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Thunderbirds will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
