Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Rocky Mount extended their winning streak to nine games thanks to a huge performance from Kira Jones. The Rocky Mount Gryphons really took it to the Nash Central Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-21 win thanks in part to Jones, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to six steals and three blocks. Her evening made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

McKinley Battle was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Rocky Mount's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 47 points. As for Nash Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.

Rocky Mount has already played their next contest (against Roanoke Rapids), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Nash Central will face off against Northern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
