Baseball Recap: Maloney Comes Up Short

Maloney had taken Plainville down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Spartans fell 8-5 to the Blue Devils. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly three runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Maloney and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Plainville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maloney will host Longmeadow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plainville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Middletown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
