Football Game Preview: Astoria Fishermen vs. Gladstone/Riverdale

For the first time this season, Astoria will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host Gladstone/Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gladstone/Riverdale took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Astoria, who comes in off a win.

Astoria lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Molalla, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Fishermen blew past the Indians 28-7 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fishermen.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Gladstone/Riverdale's offense. They were beaten by Stayton 47-0 on Friday. Gladstone/Riverdale hasn't had much luck with Stayton recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Astoria now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gladstone/Riverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Astoria couldn't quite finish off Gladstone/Riverdale in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 and fell 14-12. Can the Fishermen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
