Basketball Recap: Salesian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cardinal Spellman on Friday, Salesian came back down to earth. The Salesian Eagles took an 87-70 bruising from the New Rochelle Huguenots on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (68), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Salesian still got an impressive performance from Julien Wiggins, who went 11 of 20 en route to 31 points along with five assists and three steals. The contest was Wiggins' 11th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kevaughn Mitchell, who posted 12 points.

Salesian's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for New Rochelle, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Coming up, Salesian will challenge Xavier at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Salesian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. As for New Rochelle, they will square off against Scarsdale at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
