Basketball Recap: Cathedral Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Cathedral extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Keaton Aldridge. The Fighting Irish came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured an 80-74 W against the Great Crossing Warhawks with plenty of help from Aldridge, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 12 boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Julien Smith, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 17 points and three steals. His big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Cathedral's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Great Crossing, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral and Crown Point will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Great Crossing, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
