Soccer Game Preview: Valley Christian vs. Junipero Serra

The Valley Christian Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Junipero Serra Padres at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Valley Christian lost 7-1 to Bellarmine College Prep on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Bells are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Junipero Serra had just enough and edged St. Ignatius College Preparatory out 2-1 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Padres in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Lucas Faggiolly and Nate Coughlin scored both of Junipero Serra's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Junipero Serra's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Valley Christian came up short against Junipero Serra when the teams last played back in January, falling 3-1. Can Valley Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
