Softball Game Preview: Monache Marauders vs. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits

The Monache Marauders will face off against the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Monache has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Monache heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Saturday. They fell just short of Bakersfield Christian by a score of 2-1. The Marauders' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Sophia Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Monache saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danika Sanchez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 6-2.

Long Beach Poly also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Tegan Breaux gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Ki'Ele Ho-Ching was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kween Tauala, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Long Beach Poly's win bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Monache, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6-1.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monache hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Long Beach Poly struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
