Soccer Game Preview: Kempsville vs. Kellam

Kempsville hasn't had much luck against Kellam recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chiefs will take on the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Kempsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.

Kempsville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ocean Lakes as they made off with a 6-1 win. Maddie Udoh was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Kellam faced First Colonial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Knights never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give Kellam's defense some credit: that's the team's ninth straight shutout.

Kempsville pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for Kellam, their win bumped their record up to 19-0.

Kempsville suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Kellam in their previous meeting back in May. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
