The Oldham County Colonels will head out to face off against the Floyd Central Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Oldham County needed a bit of extra time to put away Nelson County. They won by a run and slipped past the Cardinals 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Colonels as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kennedy Dennison tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Jozie Lashley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Meanwhile, Floyd Central won against Brownstown Central on Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Highlanders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Meade County 4-2. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Green Waves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Adeline Shultz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Shultz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nora Koehler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Addy Ware was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Floyd Central's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Oldham County, their record now sits at 21-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Oldham County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Floyd Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Oldham County skirted past Floyd Central 6-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
