Soccer Game Preview: Yosemite vs. Mendota

The Yosemite Badgers will be home for the holidays to greet the Mendota Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Yosemite is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals back in November, they were much more limited against Clovis last Tuesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 11-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Badgers were already down 8-0.

Meanwhile, Mendota's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on Riverdale with a sharp 4-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won four contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Riverdale with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Wilberto Amador (2), Neri Arteaga, and Erlin Gomez.

Mendota pushed their record up to 8-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matches. As for Yosemite, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.

Yosemite might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Mendota in their previous matchup back in January. Can Yosemite avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
