Volleyball Recap: Cheylin Comes Up Short

Cheylin lost against Oakley back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cougars took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainsmen.

Cheylin was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-22.

Taylor McCarty paced Cheylin's offense, picking up nine kills. McCarty got some help from Ashlyn Schields and her 13 assists.

Oakley can attribute much of their success to Mary Carman, who had 16 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Carman has posted over her last six contests. Jocelyn Ritter also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Cheylin's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Oakley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 25-0.

Cheylin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Dighton on the 4th. As for Oakley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Hitchcock County on the 4th.
