Pottsgrove hasn't had much luck against Perkiomen Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Falcons will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Pottsgrove's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Phoenixville, posting a 27-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Pottsgrove can attribute much of their success to Kevin Robinson, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards.
Pottsgrove's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Mikhi Dargan refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perkiomen Valley). They blew past Methacton 61-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three games by 32 points or more so far this season.
Perkiomen Valley's win came from a few key players Pottsgrove will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colin Sturges, who rushed for 100 yards and three scores on only eight carries. He has become a key player for Perkiomen Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. Jimmy Gambone was in the mix too, providing the Vikings with two TDs.
Perkiomen Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Pottsgrove's record is now 4-5. As for Perkiomen Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Pottsgrove came up short against Perkiomen Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2019, falling 29-16. Thankfully for the Falcons, Ethan Kohler (who threw for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
