Basketball Recap: Steward Victorious

On Friday, the Steward Spartans earned a 78-65 win over the Clover Hill Cavaliers.

Steward had a senior duo take command as Donovan Richardson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds and Xavier Nelson went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and eight boards. Richardson also set a new season-high mark in assists with five. Another player making a difference was Preston Day, who posted eight points.

Steward's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Clover Hill, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Steward will challenge Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steward is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season. As for Clover Hill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-48 defeat against J.R. Tucker on the 9th.
