Softball Recap: Orange Park Comes Up Short

Orange Park dropped to 5-11 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in February.

Kamryn Hutchins was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Fleming Island, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

On Fleming Island's side, Emily Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jolee Rich was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Victoria Vazquez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Orange Park will venture away from home to square off against Nease at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fleming Island, they will host Oakleaf at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
