Baseball Game Preview: Manteo Redskins vs. First Flight Nighthawks

Manteo hasn't had much luck against First Flight recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Manteo Redskins will venture away from home to take on the First Flight Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. Manteo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Manteo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against First Flight, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Manteo's pitcher stepped up to hand First Flight a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Redskins considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Not much got past Drew Brown, who gave up just four hits to keep First Flight off the board. Brown has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landon Saywer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Manteo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Taylor Granitzki was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Manteo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. First Flight's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
