Volleyball Game Preview: Avery County Vikings vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars + How To Watch

The Avery County Vikings will challenge the Mountain Heritage Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Avery County came up short against Owen on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Warhorses recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 30-28, 25-16, 27-25.

Avery County might have lost, but man, Hallie Johnson was a machine: she had 28 assists and 14 digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Kylie Holtsclaw was another key player, getting 18 digs.

Meanwhile, Mountain Heritage lost 3-0 to Polk County on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.

Mountain Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Avery County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Avery County skirted past Mountain Heritage 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Cougars' Sydney Styles, who had 20 digs and eight assists.
