The Acadiana Christian Lions suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 74-51 walloping at the hands of Christian Home Educators Fellowship. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Acadiana Christian in their matchups with Christian Home Educators Fellowship: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Acadiana Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ty Olivier. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with two steals. That was a full 56.9% of Acadiana Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jude Wilder was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Christian Home Educators Fellowship got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Furlow out in front who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Rizan, who scored 22 points.
Acadiana Christian dropped their record down to 13-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Christian Home Educators Fellowship, the win was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Acadiana Christian will take on Shreveport HomeSchool Sports at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian Home Educators Fellowship won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Christian Home Educators Fellowship is ranked 41st).
