Recap: Worth County Tigers vs. Mount Ayr Raiders
This season hasn't been kind to the Worth County Tigers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-39 walloping at the hands of Mount Ayr on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Worth County in their matchups with Mount Ayr: they've now lost five in a row.
Worth County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Ruckman, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynah Steele, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Worth County were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Worth County's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Mount Ayr, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worth County will take on North Andrew at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Andrew is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Mount Ayr, they will head out on the road to face off against Nodaway Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Nodaway Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
