Softball Recap: Federal Hocking Lancers vs. Belpre Golden Eagles
Federal Hocking had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it 11. They came up short against the Belpre Golden Eagles, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 back in March.
As for Belpre, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Belpre's part, they let Ava Brookover and Addy Stewart run wild. Brookover got on base in two of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Stewart went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave Brookover a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucy Ruble, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
