Softball Preview: Midway Raiders vs. West Bladen Knights
After both having extra time off, the Midway Raiders and the West Bladen Knights will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Midway scored the most runs they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They never let Fairmont onto the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Midway with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Tamia Gwynn, who went 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Karabeth Benton, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
West Bladen can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game two weeks ago. They skirted past Clinton 7-5. The win was just what West Bladen needed coming off of a 9-0 loss in their prior match.
Marlene Crabtree made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Crabtree was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, West Bladen let Holland Davis and Kallie Bass loose on the outfield. Davis scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Bass scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
