Basketball Recap: East Rutherford Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Zilah Dewberry and Faith Smith

East Rutherford was the 62-49 winner over Hendersonville when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The East Rutherford Cavaliers received a blow on Monday as they fell 42-24 to the Hendersonville Bearcats. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Faith Smith and Zilah Dewberry certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Smith posted nine points, while Dewberry put up eight points. What's more, Dewberry also racked up four rebounds, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

East Rutherford's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Hendersonville, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

East Rutherford has already played their next match (against Shelby), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hendersonville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Patton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
