Softball Game Preview: North Surry Greyhounds vs. Elkin Buckin' Elks

North Surry is 0-3 against Elkin since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The North Surry Greyhounds will square off against the Elkin Buckin' Elks at 6:00 p.m. North Surry's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Elkin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Elkin will be up against a hot North Surry team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went North Surry's way against North Wilkes on Tuesday as North Surry made off with a 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Elkin fell victim to East Wilkes and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buckin' Elks have suffered against the Cardinals since May 12, 2022.

Elkin dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Surry, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

North Surry might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Elkin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can North Surry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
