Baseball Recap: White Pine's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's playoff time, and White Pine had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Lincoln County Lynx on Friday as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won ten matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Armstrong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because White Pine is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, White Pine got a massive performance out of Dylan Cessford, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The Bobcats are 7-2 when Cessford posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hall, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: White Pine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

White Pine moved to 12-12 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Lincoln County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

As of now, neither White Pine nor the Lynx have any future games scheduled.
