Baseball Game Preview: Shikellamy Braves vs. Mifflinburg Wildcats

The Shikellamy Braves will take on the Mifflinburg Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mifflinburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Shikellamy, who comes in off a win.

Shikellamy is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Hanover Area 11-10.

Brady Kurtz and Chayse Snyder made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kurtz tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Snyder struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Kurtz scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Snyder scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Corbin Stahl was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justin Zeigler, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mifflinburg had taken Danville down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. Mifflinburg came up short against Danville, falling 14-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Ironmen since May 2, 2022.
