Basketball Recap: Patel Trailblazers vs. Carrollwood Day Patriots

The Patel Trailblazers struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Carrollwood Day Patriots had 24 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Patel had to suffer through a rough 70-42 loss at the hands of the Patriots. If Patel was looking for revenge after losing 49-36 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Patel still got an impressive performance from SIMARKAE MCLEAN, who scored 29 points. That was a full 69% of Patel's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Leighann Hanley, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds for Carrollwood Day. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hanley has scored all season. Emily Quirindongo was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Patel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Carrollwood Day, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-8.

Patel and the Spartans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Anyla Parker and MCLEAN. As for Carrollwood Day, they and the Warriors will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
