Softball Recap: Montello Hilltoppers vs. Randolph Rockets
Randolph hit Montello with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hilltoppers lost 14-4 to the Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-9 back in April.
Aubrey Deford and Geneva Hunter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Deford got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Hunter went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Deford's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savanna Bolstad, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Montello has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
