Softball Recap: Worland Warriors vs. Campbell County Camels
Worland had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it eight. They lost 17-0 to the Campbell County Camels. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Camels this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-0 defeat back in March.
Worland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Pierce, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Campbell County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Considering they have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Campbell County's side, Sadie Cole made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Cole has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Campbell County let Sam Torres and Lanae Kimbley run wild. Torres went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kimbley went 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Torres has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Maty Muffie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
