Football Game Preview: Service Cougars vs. South Anchorage Wolverines

The Service Cougars will square off against the South Anchorage Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Service has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while South Anchorage will come in with six straight wins.

Service is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked 16th at the time (Service was ranked seventh). The Cougars were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 7-6 to the Thunderbirds. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one point.

South Anchorage hadn't beaten Dimond on the road since September 7, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Wolverines took their matchup with ease, bagging a 37-6 victory over the Lynx. That 31 point margin sets a new team best for the Wolverines this season.

South Anchorage's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Service, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Everything went Service's way against South Anchorage in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, as Service made off with a 32-7 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
