Basketball Game Preview: Denver Christian Thunder vs. Byers Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Denver Christian Thunder will get right back to it and host the Byers Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.

Denver Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Elbert: they outscored them in every quarter. Denver Christian enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over Elbert on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunder.

It was another big night for Ryan Wind, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Romero, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Denver Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Byers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Simla. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Denver Christian will need focus on slowing down Kaleb Willoughby, one of several Byers players who made an impact when they last played. He put up 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Quincy Eacret, who had nine points and three steals.

Byers' loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Denver Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Denver Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57 points per game. However, it's not like Byers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57.9 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Everything came up roses for Denver Christian against Byers when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 73-39 win. Does Denver Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Byers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
